Well they bombed you in the borough, back in 1952
And when a nation lost control we turned our lonely eyes to you
And you taught us how to feel like, the luckiest men on earth
Loving you's what we're taught to do from the moment of our birth
Oh tonight, oh tonight I'm gonna call my own shot
I'm gonna give this city of lights everything I've got
Whoa tonight, gonna see how much fight I've left in me
And I ain't going down without one last swing
Because when the world comes down on you
There's only one thing you can do
Oh tonight I'm gonna put my faith in Pinstripes
They say the ghosts they made it, they crossed the street into the park
And they're watching us like angels as The Captain leads the charge
And The Creatures come from the shadows, and call out to the night
And when The Voice of God reigns down it brings a city back to life
Oh tonight, oh tonight I'm gonna call my own shot
I'm gonna give this city of lights everything I've got
Whoa tonight, gonna see how much fight I've left in me
And I ain't going down without one last swing
Because when the world comes down on you
There's only one thing you can do
Oh tonight I'm gonna put my faith in Pinstripes
Oh tonight I'm gonna put my faith in Pinstripes
Nobody lives forever, but some things never die
Like when the trumpet cries to Ol Blue Eyes
Or that fence up in the sky
Oh tonight, oh tonight I'm gonna call my own shot
I'm gonna give this city of lights everything I've got
Whoa tonight, gonna see how much fight I've left in me
And I ain't going down without one last swing
Because when the world gives up on you
There's only one thing you can do
Oh tonight I'm gonna put my faith in Pinstripes
Oh tonight I'm gonna put my faith in Pinstripes
Oh tonight I'm gonna put my faith in...

Hey where are you going now with your face so full of fear?
I just want to say Hello, but you won't let me near
It sure gets lonely in this wilderness alone
When all I've got's my freedom and these pines to call my home
I didn't ask for this attention, you made a devil out of me
And I'm sorry if this confession kills my notoriety
There was a girl who lived in a cabin by a creek
I watched her in the day and through her window when she'd sleep
I finally got the nerve to make my presence known
I've never seen such terror as her green eyes showed
And then the stories started swirling as the battle lines were set
Well if a devil's what you want, by God, a devil is what you'll get
I didn't ask for this attention, I'm just a little misunderstood
And not believing all that you read could do some of you people good
They'll probably come for me and put me on the run
For all the sins and killing that they say I've done
But just remember when the bullet hits my spine
You made the myth of me, and myths don't ever die
Was it so wrong of me to want love like everybody else?
Sometimes the thought of dying ain't as bad as living with myself
Sometimes the thought of dying ain't as bad as living with myself

Loners Society Charleston, South Carolina
Loners Society is the brain-child of Unusual Suspects and County Line Strangers’ primary songwriter/singer, Matt Megrue. While both of Megrue’s previous projects primarily emphasized their collective punk/country upbringings, the new EP from Loners Society takes that same honesty and sprinkles in a little bit of soul in what Megrue describes as, “southern-fried, indie rock and roll." ... more
